I went to a holiday party on Tuesday night and spent most of the evening talking and laughing with a new friend of mine. She's a wife, mother, teacher, volunteer and a cancer survivor. Knowing her is one of my gifts of cancer. We shared laughs over many things, including the tattoos we now have because of cancer. We talked seriously about the anxiety of going for mammograms and the possibility of recurrence.
Of all of the changes brought into my life because of cancer, the people it has introduced me to are its most precious gifts. Thank you my friend for a good conversation and thank you to all of you for the many conversations we have had this year. I can't wait to see what next year brings!
